Ethics and Scope of Practice Agreement

Scope of practice is the term used to refer to the skills, processes, actions and procedures that we, as healing professionals, are allowed to offer in alignment with our education and training. Our scope of practice is limited to what the law will allow and our demonstrated competency with oversight from governing bodies (e.g., state, district, or federal government) and institutions.

In registering for a Healing Shame workshop the student agrees to:

  1. Not discriminate against any individual or group with respect to any service, program or activity based on gender, race, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, age, or other prohibited basis.

  2. Comply with all state regulation and laws of local government bodies.

  3. Maintain the highest standard of conduct, care, personal and professional development.

  4. Treat all clients in an ethically sound manner.

  5. Represent themselves accurately and maintain a healthy awareness of their own limits.

  6. Work within their scope of practice.

Practicing Within Our Scope of Practice

Staying within our scope of practice is an ethical consideration. Understanding where our unique scope of practice (based on education, training, licensure, etc.) begins and ends is an important issue in maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and practicing within our domains of expertise.
